2021 Is Off To A Great Start

Hellooooo!!!!!! I know I have been away for a while but there’s no time like the present to return! So here I am. Things have been wild over the past 8 months or so, and I originally had no plans on being away, definitely not for this long anyways. There was just a lot going on and I think the time I took without writing was necessary, but here I am ready to jump back on the horse. Every time I wanted to write about one thing, something else would take place, and then my mood would change. I think most writers and bloggers can understand that.

So many things to talk about, so let’s just dive right in.

Currently I am working on my first book. So if you really think about it I have been doing a lot of writing, just not for my blog. This book will be a guide for athletes to chase their dreams despite the obstacles they may be up against. It is meant to be a motivational tool with tips and insight on how to go about the process and get looks from coaches in order to get their opportunity to reach their next level in their athletic journey. I also share bits of my own experiences throughout the each chapter of the book.

Writing this book has had me completely excited for what is to come. I started writing it on the back of a bus during road trip to an away game while I was in Germany, probably about a month before Corona hit. I was sparingly adding to it until about October and then I really began to dive into it. At this point I think I will be done adding to it and editing it on my own in about the next 2-4 weeks, and then it will be time for an editor. I have spoken to several people over the last 4 months or so about the whole process of having a book come together. There are several ways of getting it done and I can’t wait to finally have it out. Then shortly after, I’ll be coming back with another book.

Along with this upcoming book, I have also been using my social media platforms more intentionally to help share tips surrounding basketball. Whether that be how to prepare for tryouts, what coaches are looking for from their players, what it’s like to play JUCO, D1, and even Pro ball, and lots of other things. Feel free to leave a comment with a question pertaining to any of these things you would like me to follow up on any of my other platforms.

Lately I have gotten into TikTok quite a bit. It’s something refreshing for me since I don’t normally like posting any videos with myself in them and talking. But I am getting better and better with that. It’s been a process lol. People have been asking me for quite some time to start a Youtube channel and I think it’s almost time for that. Make sure to follow me on TikTok @BecHarris30. GO NOW!!!!

And outside of all of these things, I have been working with Vashon High School as an Assistant Coach for their Varsity Girls Basketball Team as well as working at the school. It has been the craziest of seasons to say the least. Since I am home due to all the Covid madness that has occurred around the world, this was just a great opportunity. I’m always down to continue learning and to gain more experience from the sidelines, and with the group that we have, there’s been a lot to take in. This has already been a historic run and season for this program and it’s great to be a part of it. We’ve got a lot of talent on this squad and it’s been my duty to just help as much as I can to prepare them for what’s to come and to fight through some of the trials and tribulations that come with playing at this level. We are on track to make a great run at a state title here in Missouri and I hope we make that happen. What an accomplishment that would be for these girls.

In other news, I can’t believe it’s already February 2021. I think it’s safe to say that so much has changed over the last year. Everyone is still trying to adapt to the “new” normal that this virus has brought across the world. I feel like we are always on the brink of a new world order, or at least another shut down! Trump is OUT OF OFFICE!!! That is something that I kind of want to continue shouting from the rooftops. We’ve got our first female and POC VP in the White House in Kamala Harris, and Biden is President.

Learning about real estate has become such a huge hobby of mine and soon enough I will do big things with it. Hoping to have my first property under my belt before the first year is out. Looking at houses, the structures, and understanding the many ways to go about real estate is pretty exciting as well. Not going to talk about all the things I wish I knew earlier in life pertaining to such things as real estate, we are just going to move forward.

Changed agents. That was a big deal for me and took some time. People that aren’t really part of the world of the business side of sports just don’t understand all of the things that take place. There’s so much that goes on across the waters and behind the scenes, the things that we deal with can be a lot. That’s a part of mental health in sports that many don’t talk about as well. But we will see what the next season brings, I’m happy with the decision. Positive thoughts moving towards the future. Still working out and staying in shape.

Speaking of staying in shape… have you ever done the 75 Hard Challenge??? That is not for the weak. I did it once about 4-5 months ago. It wasn’t pretty but it was worth it. About to start it again and I plan on going harder than the first. Looking forward to seeing the results afterwards. I’m sure I will share some insight and document it a little bit here and there!
